About Us
New clients are always surprised that we are accessible to our clients. That means we return our clients’ phone calls and emails in a timely fashion. We back that up with our guarantee that someone from our firm will get back to you no later than the close of the following business day. If we don’t, the call or email response is free.
We are always looking for better ways to serve our clients and to more effectively represent our clients. That is why we have been in the forefront when it comes to adopting new technology. Technology has allowed us, as a small boutique firm, to handle cases that traditionally would have been relegated to larger firms, to work more effectively with our clients, and to take advantage of the synergy created from client and law firm colloboration.
Our clients with multiple matters of a similar nature are given the option of having those matters handled in a variety of ways including flat fees, modified hourly contingent fees, and fee staging. We’re not married to the billable hour. Sometimes, because of the nature of the matter, the billable hour is the most fair arrangement for the client and the law firm. On other occasions an alternative fee approach works best for all concerned.
History and an Overview of the Firm
The Stephens Law Firm is the descendent of one of the oldest law firms in South King County dating back to 1948. Over the years the firm grew and, in 1996, Rod Stephens moved the firm to Kent. By that time, the firm had evolved, from the general practice Mike Roberts started in 1948 into a boutique firm. In 2011, to better serve the firm’s clients, located throughout the State of Washington, the firm moved to Puyallup Sumner Valley.
By consciously limiting our areas of practice, our clientele benefit from our years of experience and in-depth understanding of those areas of law in which we practice. Not only do we pride ourselves on our legal abilities but our firm attracts clients who appreciate and value superior client service. Toward that end the firm employs cutting-edge technology, keeps its clients aware of the latest legal trends, and is quick to employ procedures that work the way its clients work.
Our Community
Sumner and Puyallup are growing and dynamic communities. They are the home of the Washington State Fair, the Daffodil Festival, Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Rainier Coffee Company, and are a hub for commerce in Pierce County and the South Puget Sound.
Both cities are renowned for spectacular views of Mount Rainier, springtime fields of daffodils, rhubarb (Sumner is the Rhubarb Capital of the United States) and a small community atmosphere even though they are located within the greater Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. Located just 30 miles south of Seattle and Bellevue, 30 miles from Olympia, the state capital, 6 miles from Tacoma and 15 miles from SeaTac International Airport, Puyallup offers ease of access to all areas within the greater Seattle-Tacoma-Puget Sound region, Southwest Washington and Eastern Washington.
